When the property search starts, everyone is looking for the perfect villa, but finding one often proves to be challenging. Most villas that you will come across on your hunt, will require updating to a greater or lesser degree to make them perfect for you.

A large amount of Provençale properties on the market at any given time, are quite dark with small rooms and old-fashioned bathrooms and kitchens. They are crying out for a great design eye to go in and maximise their potential, opening them up to the sun and the fantastic views of the Côte d’Azur and bringing them up to date sympathetically.

In the last ten years, Clive has established a reputation for re-designing houses, seeing through the raw material to bring them to their full potential. Fully conversant with French building regulations and knowing his way around the bureaucracy surrounding construction permits certainly helps. His natural eye for the potential in a building does the rest.

Renovating your home can make all the difference; as little or as much as you want. Extensions can create additional guest rooms or a large eat-in kitchen. Perhaps a pool house with a summer kitchen would be the icing on your cake? Sometimes a guest house that is independent from the main property, is a great idea that can solve all sorts of problems!

And don’t forget that any improvements will increase your property’s rent-able value, should you wish to rent it out when you aren’t using it. They will also increase the re-sale value of your property, should you ever wish to move on.

Be warned, though. French building regulations are very strict. Choose a company which is fully aware of them and used to dealing with the French authorities. If you are buying a property with the intention of extending it, check before you sign, that you are legally allowed to carry out the work that you wish to do.
